    KILIMANJARO - LEMOSHO ROUTE

    Kilimanjaro Trekking

DESCRIPTION

KILIMANJARO - LEMOSHO ROUTE

The lemosho route Kilimanjaro is the longest of the outfield routes, and sometimes regarded as the second timers Kilimanjaro route, although it is also for anyone with an appetite for a quieter trail and a more remote atmosphere. Most hikers often say that the beauty of the Lemosho route Kilimanjaro is due to the fact that the route is a little less accessible than the Machame Route. The other added bonus of the Lemosho route ilimanjaro is that more time is spent hiking on the Shira Plataue thus allowing a greater chance of acclimitisation. The Lemosho route Kilimanjaro also has the added potential of big game sighting on the lower reaches, requiring sometimes that the first day be hiked in the company of an armed game scout. And by game, we do not mean monopoly or chess.

The Lemosho trailhead is situated well west of the other routes, but from day 4 onwards it merges with Machame and follows the same course from then on. And quite as most Machame groups descend on the separate Mweka Route, the Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro typically do as well

Accommodation on the Lemosho Route kilimanjaro is unfortunately not the Hilton, but we have tried to compromise by included some high quality alpine tents. To make your experience on Kilimanjaro a tad more comfortable, we arrange for all your supplies and camping equipment to be carried up this majestic mountain by our reliable and friendly porter team who are also responsible for preparing your daily meals. Although the porter team are truly amazing, they do not possess Spiderman superpowers, so we ask that your personal baggage limit is 12 kg for the climb. Tents and sleeping mats are supplied on this trip.

Our Lemosho route Kilimanjaro begins at the Protea Hotel Aishi. A really nice place to enjoy your creature comforts before the suffering of mountain life begin. In terms of experience, the guides that we use are well equipped to look after your climbing needs. Some the guides have summited Kilimanjaro over 100 times. Each lemosho route Kilimanjaro is lead by a senior guide, with other guides in a ratio of approximately one guide per 2 or 3 climbers – if you are a bit slower than the rest or get ill and have to descend, a guide will always be with you. As for the food served on the mountain, we do not serve lobster thermadoire! The fridge gets a bit heavy! The food is generally plain and wholesome, including a lot of carbohydrates, stews and soups, vegetables and fresh fruit. If you are a vegetarian, please let us know! If you would like to join a group departure together with other climbers, we will be undertaking such trips throughout the year.

Maps and illustrations showing the path of the migrating herds should be used as a general guide and a good way to choose the location of your hotel, camp or lodge. However, as with anything in nature, the actual day to day pattern is unpredictable. Wildebeest are remarkably unpredictable!
